Dr. Carlos S. Alvarado and Dr. Nancy L. Zingrone have
enjoyed careers in parapsychology since the late 1970s.
Focusing mainly on the psychology of experience —
especially on the out-of-body experience — they have
been lucky enough to have been at some of the
premiere institutions in the field, such as the Rhine
Research Center in Durham, North Carolina, the
Koestler Parapsychology Unit in the Department of
Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, at the
Parapsychology Foundation in New York City and
Greenport, New York, and at the Division of Perceptual
Studies in the Department of Psychiatry and
Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia,
where they now hold part-time research faculty
    appointments.

Over the years they have taught parapsychology
classes at universities, colleges and in adult
education venues including Carlos Abizu University
in San Juan, Puerto Rico (Alvarado); Northeastern
Illinois University in Chicago, Illinois (Zingrone); and
at the Parapsychology Foundation (both of us). Their
research has been funded by the Institut für
    Grenzgebiete der Psychologie und Psychohygiene
(IGPP) in Freiburg, Germany; the Society for
Psychical Research (SPR) in London and the Perrott
Warrick Fund in Cambridge, England; and the
Fundação Bial in Mamede do Coronado, Portugal,
    among others.
